Large scale synthesis of carbon nanopearl chains by chemical vapor deposition: Fullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures: Vol 0, No 0


We report the synthesis of a novel kind of carbon-based nanostructure, which consists of a string of carbon nanopearl chains (CNPCs) with a connection construction of carbon nanofibers utilizing a chemical vapor deposition methodology. Repeatedly spaced, nanometer-sized balls of graphitic carbon are discovered on the amorphous nanofibers. The nanopearls have nanometer-sized spheres, our bodies in diameter various from tens of nanometers to lots of of nanometers, with strong interiors. The chain connections have a size starting from a number of nanometers as much as micrometers between two nanopearls. The nanopearls join one another by the nanofibers, thus forming a sequence. The CNPCs have potential to be used as reinforcing matrix to supply robust and hard carbon-based nanocomposites.
